The Peterson Family is inviting you to participate in some great events!
We all know that Matt loved a party. We always said that he brought the party with him…at least he always did when he came home. We would like nothing better than to gather in joy with family and friends for a three day Willcox festival!
First, on Saturday, the Magic Circle Bike Ride - The City of Willcox is dedicating this event to Matt. This is the only year that this ride will be dedicated to Matt so it is our hope that we can use this opportunity to gather and have a good time riding together, playing together, laughing together, eating together and sleeping together. The 33 and 66 mile ride is being coordinated by local officials and will require registration in advance. If we have some warning, we can arrange to have bikes for people flying to Arizona. The ride passes by the paved road that is three miles from our home.
On Sunday, the Great Adventure Race - The Great Adventure Race is a team event (and we choose the teams!) The adventure race showcases various skills, some athletic but also trivia, balance, endurance, teamwork, creativity, persistence, problem solving, and more! We had the 1st Annual Adventure Race over Thanksgiving weekend 2008 and had a great time! We've been able to refine some of the ideas and come up with new ones. It will last from about 10:00AM until about 3:00PM.
Saturday and Sunday night we will have festivities at the house. The grill will be warm, the beer will be cold, the music will be bumping and the yard games will be in full swing!
On Monday, relaxation - You are welcome to stick around--play golf, go hiking, recover on the couch, try and beat Papa John at croquet, or discover the character of our small town.
September is a great time to sleep under the stars and there is a nice grassy area outside as well as an elevated loft, The Eagle's Nest. We also have a lot of carpeted floor space and there are several rooms with beds. In addition, we have arranged with the Holiday Inn Express to hold a few rooms at a discounted rate.
Please contact us if you are able to make it so we can plan accordingly. We hope you can make it down to Willcox to celebrate with us!!!

More Details...
What will I need for Adventure Race?
Unless you are Jeff - a pair of closed toed shoes, comfortable clothing and your A
Game will suffice! :) If you are entering the Belt Buckle Category - you might want to
throw in a belt so you can sport your winnings!
How do I get to Willcox?
Flights into Phoenix - 3 Hour Drive Flights into Tucson - 1:15 Hour Drive
Carpools available - Contact Us!
Directions from East Bound I-10 - Take the 1st Willcox exit (there are three.)
At the stoplight, turn right (you are now on Highway 186.)
Go over the train tracks. You are now headed out of town. Pass the
windmill on the left. Look for the Mile Markers!!!
¼ mile past Milemarker 332 (the sign is on the right), turn left.
There is a very little sign calling it Blue Sky Drive. There are two mailboxes.
The road is not clearly marked—you will have to watch carefully.
You just went over Catlleguard #1. It separates the dirt road from the highway.
It’s dirt road from here on out. Watch for cows!
Cattleguard #2—about 200 yards down the road from #1.
After this cattleguard, it is open range land.
After awhile, there is a big curve—90 degrees—
Although I think it has filled it a bunch, I have caught air on Cattleguard #3
(Matt was goading me on) so take it easy as you approach it.
After another long stretch, High Power Lines.
Okay...be alert. Approximately 300 yards (I’m totally guessing), you are
going to turn left and bear right. This happens under the large electrical wires. As
you do this, you go over Cattleguard #4.
Peterson Driveway...you’re close now.
At the end of this road—it’s very narrow and very windy—(Don't go fast on
Dead-Man's Curve!) you will be at our house! Welcome.
If you need help, call: Peterson House—(520) 384-4512
